Fonseca By My Father MX

Cedros 6.25 × 52 FOMYMXC

My Father Cigars bought the Fonseca name back in 2019 and, with it, helped revamp a story and a brand that was more than a century old. When Pepin and Jamie Garcia take on a project, it’s more than just a cigar. The Fonseca name is critical to the history of Cuban cigarmaking and it’s easy to tell how much love and care was placed into a remodeling of this age-old smoke, turning it into one of the most sought-after cigars in the industry. The Fonseca brand began back in 1892 and became wildly popular throughout both Spain and Canada, bringing an affordable, workingman’s take on the traditional Cuban. But as the cigar industry boomed, busted and turned over through the decades, Fonseca seemed to be all but forgotten. That is, until the arrival of Fonseca by My Father. My Father Cigars began in earnest in 2003, though Pepin Garcia rolled his first cigar at the age of 11 back in the 1960s. Through the years, the Garcia family has been the driving force behind Tatuaje, San Cristobal and La Aroma De Cuba among many others. Their farm and factory in Nicaragua are fast becoming a sacred space within the world of high-level cigarmaking. Which brings us to the new Fonseca by My Father. Available in a 6-vitola line up, customers have the well-rounded selection of a Petit Corona (4.12 x 40), Robusto (5.12 x 52), Cosacos (5.75 x 42), Belicosos (5.50 x 54), Toro Gordo (6 x 55) and Cedros (6.13 x 52). Each format is fitted in rich gold tone bands and housed in a beautiful wooden box flush with multiple iterations of its logo in quantities of 20. Now that your customers know the story, explain to them that this Nicaraguan puro, enclosed in a flavorful, reddish shade grown Corojo ‘99 Rosado, is the epitome of construction and flavor. The tasting profile ranges from dark roast coffee and cinnamon to a more refined and mature leathery note. Like many My Father releases, the cigar also features a pepperiness that has become synonymous with the company. The cigars carry a look of polished silverware; something that is both decidedly retro and still premium despite its age. Medium to full bodied, the cigar is an easy sell because it fits into so many different occasions. Eye-catching, this is a cigar that can stand on its own or be the centerpiece of your customers’ next pairing event, wedding display or round of golf. Pairing well with many brown ales, whiskey-based cocktails or straight ryes, the Fonseca is a treat your customers will keep coming back for. Not only is the price right, as is the case whenever you’re shopping at Santa Clara, but the story is right, too. For some customers, that’s the most important part of the sale.
