Tatuaje Cabaiguan
Tatuaje is the zenith of cigars, created to rival Cuban cigars and is one of the fastest selling lines of premium handmade cigars.
Although you probably have never heard of Cabaiguan, this masterpiece stems from the eminent minds at the helm of the acclaimed and highly rated Tatuaje brand; an award-winning tag-team which customers have surely heard about in the cigar business.
Difficult to say yet easy to burn, Cabaiguan is a tasty treat from Don ‘Pepin’ Garcia and Pete Johnson and is an award-winner itself receiving a well-deserved 92-point rating from Cigar Aficionado. The Tatuaje Cabaiguan is an enigmatic experience within the portfolio of Tatuaje cigars. Seamlessly fitting alongside the likes of full-bodied powerhouse smokes, Cabaiguan backpedals a bit, taking up a slightly tame and more subdued approach that caters to nuance and complexity over body.
This cigar first made its debut in 2006, marking the first Connecticut-wrapped blend from Tatuaje. It is named after a small province in the Northern Sancti Spiritus, Cuba, called Cabaiguan. The city is home to many world-class and successful cigar rollers and is inspired by some of the most knowledgeable cigar men in the country.
However, the Cuban influence extends further beyond the name. The cigars are handcrafted under the guide of Pepin Garcia by the talented artisans he personally selected. Manufactured at the Garcia’s My Father Cigars factory, the smokes are hand rolled boutique-style utilizing traditional Cuban techniques such as entubado bunching and triple-capped heads. It is also important to note that Garcia himself was considered to be the most talented roller on the island before his departure from Cuba.
This perfectly constructed smoke is a Cuban-seed mixture of Nicaraguan long-fillers and is carefully blended to nurture a flavorful cigar with rich and hearty layers of intricacy. More specifically, the blend includes an all-Nicaraguan binder and long leaf filler, topped with a pricy, oily, and silky selection of Ecuadorian Connecticut, visually similarly to that of a Habano than a conventional Connecticut. The result is evident displaying a welcome contrast to Tatuaje's infamous “ballsy” demeanor, offering aromatic, Cuban-esque characteristics of a medium bodied smoke crowing in a well-balanced flavor profile of cedar, buttered toast, light black pepper, mixed nuts, and a cocoa powder sweetness injected with touches of leather.
Some of your customers may have commented that they are in search of the nostalgia a Cuban cigar brings them. Well, these are some of the closest in flavor you can get to a traditional and authentic Cuban. Both seasoned and new smokers alike can enjoy these stellar sticks. You can also suggest to your customers to pair this with a bourbon to seal the deal as most smokers genuinely enjoy a good drink to go along with an exquisite smoke.
