La Aurora 120th

Anniversario

While novice customers, or even some seasoned smokers, will approach your store insisting on Cuban heritage brands or anything from the industry’s current hotbed of Nicaragua or Ecuador, some of the most time-honored tastes and blends in the history of cigar smoking have taken place in the Dominican Republic. And the La Aurora brand is one of the oldest and most traditional Dominican heritage brands with more than a century of excellence to its name. The brand released its 120th Anniversary cigar recently to celebrate a benchmark in a long and successful line of cigarmaking. Aptly a Dominican Puro, the cigar features a Habano 92 wrapper, Olor binder from the Cibao Valley and filler tobacco that features Cibao Valley varietals including Olor and Piloto Cubano. On the brand’s website, it made the claim that this cigar in particular was “…the product of the knowledge, passion, creativity, and desire for excellence found in every single member of the La Aurora family. The blend we have chosen to create is a product of teamwork to a degree we had never accomplished before.” Guillermo León, president of La Aurora said in a press release commemorating its creation: “As we commemorate our 120th anniversary, we are proud to mark a milestone that will serve as a reference point for many years to come. Our commitment has always been with creating cigars that embody the rich, distinct flavors of the cigar world.” The flavors are creamy and sweet, beginning with a wave of caramel and settling into a beautifully balanced stick with notes of pepper and wood. Mellow-medium bodied in strength, this is a cigar that can be enjoyed all day with its delectable array of light and sweet, yet incredibly complex flavors. Educate your customers on the beauty that is the Dominican Republic today.
