Crowned Heads
Coroneta Habano
In 2024, Crowned Heads tried something rarely seen in the cigar industry. A line of cigars in two different expressions, both of which are crafted separately at different factories.
Hence, the Coroneta Habano, which is the other side of the Coroneta Maduro, that shipped just a few weeks before the Habano was revealed on the market. The Habano is produced by Nicaragua American Cigars S.A. and contains a blend of Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, Nicaraguan binder and fillers from Condega, Estelí and Jalapa, Nicaragua.
The Habano is a lighter offering, while the far darker Maduro features a Mexican San Andrés wrapper, Ecuadorian Connecticut-seed binder and fillers sourced from the Dominican Republic, Pennsylvania and Nicaragua.
Available in three different sizes, the Habano is collectible worthy; a special kind of release that showcases the uniqueness of the cigarmaking process. As more premium boutique brands start giving us a look behind the curtain with their offerings, Crowned Heads has taken their process and made it a tasting adventure for fans.
Jon Huber, one of Crowned Heads’ co-founders said in a press release upon the cigar’s release: “The concept of simultaneously introducing one brand in two expressions from two different houses is something entirely first-time for us. The Habano version from NACSA was actually final and production ready back in the Spring of 2022, but we decided to hold it back. Ultimately, we felt so strongly about the Coroneta brand that we tapped the ‘Godfather of Boutique Cigars,’ aka Ernesto Perez-Carrillo, to partner with us on developing the maduro version. I think the Coroneta brand achieves what we excel at, which is, seamlessly blending tradition and history with premium modernity.”
The flavor profile of this Cuban inspired smoke is one of cedar, earth, and hints of spice. Premium all the way to the packaging, the cigar pairs well with Pilsner style beers, Caramel Macchiato style blended coffees, rums and rum-based cocktails and the fruitier side of your red wine collection, such as a good Pinot Noir.
