Aganorsa Supreme Leaf
With three exceptional decades of growing tobacco in tow, the Aganorsa Leaf brand has been responsible for producing some of the finest and covetable tobaccos in the world since 1998.
Said to have captured the essence of Cuban cigars, Eduardo Fernandez curated a world class team with over a half century of experience to create blends steeped in Cuban traditions by emulating authentic Cuban making cigar methods coupled with rich Nicaraguan resources.
Priding themselves on being a collective entity, so much so they even underwent a name change rebranding from Casa Fernandez to AGANORSA Leaf in April 2018 better representing of being a part of an empire. Fernandez believes vertical integration is the pathway to success and top of mind is a promise of excellence “from seed to ash”, being heavily involved in each and every step of the cigar making process. Clearly, it has paid off.
Going through a metamorphosis from unknown to world-renowned, Aganorsa has built a clientele by growing tobacco in the old-fashioned Cuban style, utilizing Cuban seeds and the counsel of seasoned supervisors from Cuba. Possibly being the largest grower in Nicaragua—though Plasencia Tobacco begs to differ—however, there is no disputing the fact that Aganorsa grows immense amounts of cigar tobacco which is an essential component of some of the world’s best cigars with the likes of boutique and conglomerate companies both getting tobacco from Aganorsa. This has led to the brand being one of the most covetable sources for fine tobaccos and the prestigious nature of Aganorsa Leaf farms.
This brings us to their own brand, the Aganorsa Supreme Leaf. Though there are many brands on the market braggadocios in nature, they’ve taken boasting to all new heights with this naming convention. Living up to its name, the series is like the eight wonders of the world formatted in an eight Vitola line-up. Commencing with the Supreme Leaf Robusto (5x52) in March 2020, the iterations along with the year they debuted goes as follows respectively: Supreme Leaf Toro (6x54) — July 2020, Supreme Leaf Corona Gorda (6x46) — February 2021, Supreme Leaf Torpedo (6x54) — August 2021, Supreme Leaf Robusto (2022) (5x54) — February 2022, Supreme Leaf Toro (2023) (6x52) — February 2023, Supreme Leaf Perfecto (6x54) — December 2023, Supreme Leaf Gran Robusto (5x56) — February 2024, and Supreme Leaf Rothschild (4.5x50) — March 2024.
A small batch-blend, collectively the cigars are beautifully constructed. They are quite literally the epitome of a perfect Nicaraguan puro. Attractive in visuals, the cigar showcases a slightly oiled and bumpy milk chocolate color. This is by way of one of the most sought-after and popular wrappers in the world of cigars, that is a savory Corojo ’99 leaf. Emanating sweet aromas enticing the palate as it engulfs the senses, the dark and savory Corojo ’99 wrapper is the perfect vehicle for its core lush of expertly and well-aged Nicaraguan tobaccos. All grown by Aganorsa, the tobaccos come together for an odyssey through captivating flavors of graham cracker, oak, cinnamon, brown sugar, and peppercorn. Falling in the medium range, the smoke is complex with a warm delivery of spicy tones tempered by an overarching sweetness.
